EM In National Geographic Article
TEA member, Pam Costa, and Yale researcher, Dr. Stephen Waxman, were interviewed by the National Geographic for an article on pain in the magazine’s January 2020 edition.
The article includes Pam’s description of the pain of EM and her coping mechanisms. Dr. Waxman is quoted regarding the mutations in the SCN9A gene that ‘creates Nav1.7 sodium channels to open too easily causing, allowing sodium ions to flood in even when they shouldn’t…’
